14 Top Tips For On-Page SEO

When it comes to on page SEO, you need to make sure you are getting it right, we have compiled a short list of the minimum things you can do for little or no money to make sure your website is performing the way it should be and getting you moving skywards in the rankings.

1Keyword in your urlMake sure you have your keyword(s) in your url
2Keyword in domain nameMake sure you have your keyword(s) in your domain name
3Keyword in your title tagGet your keyword(s) in your title tag
4Keyword in meta description tagGet your keyword(s) close to the beginning, no more than 200 characters though!
5Keyword in meta keyword tagAdd your keyword(s) in the keywords tag, every word you add in this tag must appear in the body of the page, no single word word can appear more than once. use less that 10 words!
6Keyword in body textkeyword density is based on topic of the content, as a general rule, keep this between 2-3%. more than this may take you over the spamming threshold, which is where you do not want to be.
7Keyword in h1, h2, h3 tagsUse these appropriately and in the order they should be.
8Keyword in bold tagsMake sure your keyword appears at least once on your page in strong or bold tags
9Keyword in alt tagAlt tags should describe the image, do not fill with keywords unnecessarily or you will be red flagged!
10Length of urlKeep the url length to less, ideal is less than 80 characters, not only for search engines but for your visitors as well
11Links out from your websiteKeep links out of your website to less than 2000, anymore and Google will think you are something you are not, enough said on that one!
12Hyphens in a urlDo not use more than 5 hyphens in a url, if you go over 10, you are spamming.
13Keep your page size downThe faster the page loads, the more uses will love it and Google will love too.
14Linking to an authorative websiteWe recommend linking to these type of websites, sites such as Government websites and/or Wikipedia provide your visitors with and authority
