Don't forget to give a brief summary of what is in your page by adding it to the meta description. Although some say it is dying, you can add keywords to the meta keywords tab. Some directory sites still use this.
Increase the links to you website from other websites
Search engines will think your website is important (ranking it higher) if you have useful content that people want to read and keep it up to date. Other websites will link to your website thus creating a higher page ranking. If you have a great page then why not share it so others can read it!
Check your broken links!
It is pretty basic; users hate it, search engines hate it. When you have completed your site, take 5 minutes to check your website has no broken links in it. No one likes to see the dreaded 404 page. You can do a quick check on your website by using one of the free sites available. A simple search for "website link checker" or similar will get you to where you need to be.
