Magento Stopping Support for V1

June 2020 does seem a long way off in the future, however, if you run a successful e-commerce store and you use V1 of  the open source e-commerce platform Magento, you need to start planning now.

So it is official, and this will be happening sometime in June of next year, Magento will stop all support for their V1 version of there platform, no more general updates or security updates.

Here’s what they had to say.

“For Magento Commerce 1 (Enterprise), we are providing software support through June 2020. Depending on your version, software support may include both quality fixes and security patches.”

“For Magento Open Source 1 (Community), we are providing software security patches through June 2020 to ensure those sites remain secure and compliant.”

The significant risk for merchants who are still on Magento 1.x after June 2020 is that Magento will no longer be releasing security patches. Leaving your site vulnerable to hackers.

I’m on Magento V1, what should I do?
