Whilst Google doesn’t necessarily index all of the content on your Social Media profiles, there are many ways that you can improve your rankings by using them.
A great example of this would be regularly updated content such as blogs. If you post regular blogs and videos on your website, share links to them on Facebook or Twitter as well. Not only will this help to improve your brand's online presence, but also bring in more page views for everyone who clicks on the link will count towards more site traffic! The more interesting your posts, the longer people will stay on your site again boosting your authority with Google.
Another point to think about is the fact that Google definitely do list social media profiles in their results, so a customer may end up searching for a topic that you recently tweeted about, and be drawn to your website as a result of this. Most of the major Social Media platforms also have their own built in search engines, and many people are now searching for businesses using Facebook and Twitter. Anybody who ends up on your website this way is again more traffic that Google will take notice of.
So to sum up, whilst Google may not actively index your Social Media posts, each and every one of them has the potential to bring in new visitors which definitely do have an effect on your rankings.
