Google Certified Shops is currently a pilot program in the United Kingdom but it is likely to be rolled out in 2014, certainly before the christmas rush.
What is it?
It is a program you sign up and pay for from Google. If your online business is ecommerce (you sell products) then this program might be for you. Google offers your customer free purchase protection up to £1,000 and will summarise your Customer Service and Despatch ratings. This, hopefully will instil confidence in your potential buyer.
You get a nice shiny badge to put on your website showing the end user this information and that you are certified.
Probably the most important for your customer, Google offers free purchase protection up to £1,000. Once the buyer has purchased products from you, their orders will also be available to be viewed and tracked using the Google Certified Shops portal as well as your own website.
Once the whole buying process is complete, Google will chase your customers (in a nice way) to get product and customer service reviews that can be displayed and read in a click of a mouse on your website.
Your reviews and ratings are then shown alongside your search engine listing, see example:
Being a part of the Google certified shop program will:
- Increase Confidence For new Shoppers
- Improve Your Sales
As we said above, this is strictly a pilot program but you are able to register your interest by going to:
