Google publish trending search terms to the world on a whole number of subjects. In a nice visual way. As an example below you can see a selection of some of the top trending search terms for 2013.

As with any business, if you can predict the next best seller then you are likely to make good money from it.
Let's say an an example, like us, your business sells "web design". You currently do some online advertising, maybe a bit of Adwords etc.
Go to: http://www.google.com/trends/
Enter your item in the search "web design", use the filter at the top of the page, change it to England and data from the last 12 months and click update.

This is not the most exciting part, that is just data.
The best part is at the bottom of the page "Related Searches". It is here that Google show you some more specifics on this search term. It is here that you will really see what people are searching for. Over and above this, you will see what the rising search terms are (what Google are predicting)
