Your Guide On Using The Hashtag

It is likely, if you have used social media you will have seen people using hashtags in their posts, sometimes you will even see hastags on websites, strange but nevertheless, some people do it, it is a great way to look at posts quickly and view with relevancy,

Anyway, so you now know what we are talking about, marketing folk love hashtags but when and where should you use these?

Let’s get right into it…The hashtag is used to highlight a topic, area of interest or an event, as an example, in the recent Olympics in Rio, they used #rio2016 – nice and simple. This is an example of an event using a hashtag, on an event like Christmas you will often see hastags like #xmas or annual events like Valentines Day you will see #love

Now you are really getting to grips with what we are saying…therefore, as a business, when should you use a hashtag?
Well, it would be a great idea to hashtag your product(s) or service(s), here at Pebble we do a lot of web design, also a lot of ecommerce solutions but we know our audience maybe different so if we are speaking about these different services we want to differentiate these, so we could use #webdesign or #ecommerce

It is important to note that you don’t want to waste precious characters by putting white space in your hastags, so don’t do this…#web design and do this…#webdesign – Not quite gramatically correct but hey, this is the world we live in.

Create A Hashtag For Your Business
Why not create a hashtag that will become synonymous with your business, here at Pebble we use a hashtag #heretohelp

Summarising…Things You Shouldn’t do…
Try not to do this…#look #at #my #great #product
Not only is this a waste of space but some would say it is a little ugly and not in keeping with social media etticate rules.
